Our training programmes are unusual. They’re based on our expertise. If we’re not expert in it, we won’t train in it. Our programmes are designed to make you better able to do stuff. We don’t give you bigger words for the things you can’t do, we help you gain skill. We assess your competence before we tell you anything. Like a sports coach; we can’t help you hit the ball better until we see how you do it right now.
That means we keep our courses small; if we had more than six or seven people in the group we wouldn’t have the time to dedicate to each person, so we wouldn’t be able to guarantee improvements. Which we do.
It means our courses are exercise-based; the only way to develop your skills is to understand where you’re starting from.
It means we understand you’re unique. There’s an old joke about the golfer Eamonn D’arcy; he had a swing so bizarre that when he went to compete overseas, his competitors warned him against travelling, telling him, ‘if you take that swing out of the country, you’ll never be able to get spare parts.’ His odd swing worked. Any coach would have been crazy to try to change how he swung the club; the coach’s job was to help him use his swing to deliver better results. That’s what our programmes do; we don’t try to change you, we help you use who you are to deliver better results.
