Course Overview

The Communications Clinic’s Writing for Business course is based and focused on learning by doing.

Our experiential training model ensures behavioural, not just attitudinal change.

All participants will be writing, throughout the entire programme. And they’ll be immediately applying every technique to their own writing samples.

Our training model doesn’t leave people with fancy words for things they still can’t do. It changes behaviours and gets real results.

You’ll leave the session with a clear idea of where you need to further improve, and an action plan of how to do it.

This training can be offered as a half day or a full day. Or it can be split across two half days to allow participants work on their feedback and return for further feedback and guidance.

The key thing is that it’s not “off the peg.” It’s devised and structured for you. And it’s delivered by experienced writers who happen to be great trainers, too.

We’ll devise a programme that works for you, your business, your budget and your objectives.

We’ll work with you, over a series of individual one hour sessions, to help you write well.

The work is practical. You send us samples of your writing before the first session. We analyse it, critique it and are ready to help you do the same.

And then you’ll write more. You’ll write during the session, you’ll write after each session and you’ll send us your drafts for review.

Through this process we’ll help you or your employees write well.

We’ll help you get past the fear of the blank screen. We’ll help you create documents, reports, e-mails and letters that achieve what you want, efficiently and effectively.

In short, we’ll ensure that your writing is always understandable, impactful and professional at all times.

Over a full day, a half day or a series of half day sessions, we would work with your team to ensure that all participants can deliver clear, engaging and punchy business documents.

Through practical exercises and analyses of real samples of participants writing, they’ll learn about structuring documents, paragraphs and sentences. They get their grammar and syntax gently massaged and learn to identify weak intensifiers, blended metaphors and over-long sentences.

And we’ll do it in a way that won’t bore them out of their skull. A lot of group based writing programmes make the participants think they’ve gone back to school. Ours don’t. They are practical, engaging and immediately useful.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to write documents that are:
