We are now seeking an ambitious, highly connected, and dynamic Account Director to join our leadership team.
Role Overview
As an Account Director at The Communications Clinic, the buck stops with you regarding client satisfaction, service innovation, and the overall quality of work.
This is a senior leadership role designed for an individual who wins, grows, and maintains business, while directing high-performing teams to deliver outstanding, proactive service. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of, and an active network within, Irish business and politics, paired with the commercial acumen required to meet financial targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client & Strategic Advisory
Strategic Advice: Provide top-tier strategic advice to clients, predicting their needs, solving complex problems, and consistently finding ways to add value
Service Delivery: Plan and manage the high-quality delivery of services to clients, driving the development of creative, effective, and elite campaigns
Account Reviews: Lead regular formal and informal performance reviews with clients and plan strategic activity for agreed periods.
2. Business Development & Commercial Growth
Growth and Retention: Maintain close, trust-based relationships with clients to protect existing accounts and organically uncover expansion opportunities
Lead Generation: Source new business leads by widening relationships within client organisations and forming broader business networks
Pitch Leadership: Develop and lead creative pitches to secure high-profile new clients and consistently hit assigned financial targets
Marketplace Profile: Build a prominent professional profile in the marketplace for both yourself and The Communications Clinic
3. Team Leadership and Development
People Management: Lead, motivate, and take a genuine interest in the career development of the people working within your team
Quality Assurance: Monitor, drive, and take ultimate accountability for the high-quality delivery of client work across your account team
Mentorship & Feedback: Assess areas for individual development, provide clear direction, and deliver constructive, regular feedback
Continuous Improvement: Constantly improve our offerings, set exceptional standards, and ensure our clients receive unexpected, added-value insights.
Skills and Experience Required
Expert-Level PR Practitioner: Possession of all foundational PR and advisory skills (to the highest level) required of junior roles, with a proven track record of operating at a senior level
Political and Business Acumen: A deep, active, and proven network across Irish business and politics
Strategic Leadership: Exceptional ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage complex stakeholder environments
Commercial Drive: Strong skills in strategic selling, budget management, and running successful pitch campaigns
Planning: Excellent long-term and short-term strategic planning capabilities.
